A couple miles outside of Solvang, California is a Market/Deli grocery store. This store has a dip called Mississippi Caviar that my family became hooked on years ago when we were camping at Lake Cachuma.
The dip is a blend of avocado, tomatoes, black-eyed peas, spices and a bit of this and that from grandma's kitchen.
We've tried to make it ourselves but we just seem to be missing that one ingredient. It's a great snack with crackers and if you're camping at Lake Cachuma or shopping for the day in Solvang, take an extra 20 minutes and pick up some of this great dip!
